Last Christmas my husband, Tom, gave me a present that blew me away.
It was a weekend trip to Portland, Oregon, on April 9th, with our whole family!
So this post is about our weekend; Part One.
Mark & Kimmy (son-in-law and daughter) ,
Lulu & Levi (grand daughter and grand son),
Tom & Christine (my husband and me),
departed Seattle on the Amtrak train, early Friday morning.
Todd & Stephanie (son and daughter-in-law),
got on board in Tacoma, after a 45 minute ride.
The pictures below show our fun, fantastic, ride on the train.
Levi & Lulu's first time on a train
Lulu's first look at the train departing the station.
We left our seats and headed to the Club Car.
This is a table for four and across the isle were tables for two.
We got both!
More room and better views.
Todd and Stephanie are now on board!
The party has started!
Aunt Stephanie & Uncle Todd spending time with Lulu and Levi.
Lots of catching up.
It was like musical chairs. We all shifted from one seat to another.
Todd and Grandpa broke out the chess set.
Someone else is very interested in how it's played.
Grandma on nap duty with Lulu for entertainment.
Looking pretty comfortable riding the train.
Using Grandpa's cell phone as a toy.
Arrival in Portland, Oregon.
The clock at the station says 11:20 AM.
It took three hours and 50 minutes of fun!
Here we are walking to the Hotel Monaco.
Portland has a fantastic rail system. We could go anywhere, riding their light rail.
to be continued...

Get Rid of It! - Make sure that you have no excess baggage. Get rid of old claim checks and outdated identification tags before you travel. Also take off shoulder straps, add-a-bag straps, hanging hooks, and anything else that could get ripped or knocked off during travel, if you are checking your luggage.
What a terrific, and thoughtful gift! Looks like everyone is having a wonderful train ride! I'll look forward to more updates! I've joined Kimmie's blog as a follower too! Have fun!

I've never taken a long train trip. Sounds like a good mode of transportation. You must be thrilled to get your family together for this trip. What a great gift.
