Vacation Time

Tom whisked me away to Cannon Beach.
If you know me,
this is just a small, handful of places,
anywhere in the world,
 that I love to visit.

We arrived to Picture Perfect weather!

A room with a view and nothing obstructing it.
And a friend, too!

During our 6 1/2 hour drive to Cannon Beach,
 we talked a lot about
FISH & CHIPS!!!
And we knew where we were going..

How could we go wrong with a name
like this!

We knew just what we wanted!

 HAPPY!

Tom surprised me with a room that had a gas fireplace.
(It was lit most of our stay.)

The first morning we walked the beach,
even before the sun came up.
It's a mile down to Haystack Rock,
which looms in the distance.

On the way back, the sun was coming up.

I had to take a picture of this fort.
It was a work of Art!

On our way back to our room,
we stopped for one more cup of coffee.

The evening news reported that we were in for a
huge storm!
This was going to be the BEST vacation,
I think!

We could see the storm brewing and
 getting closer.

At the height of this storm, it was going to be
 High Tide!!

And it got higher and higher!!

People were lined up all along the bulk head
taking pictures, Tom and I included!

These pictures below were taken from our room!

The waves came up over the bulk head,
over the grass lawn, right up to the deck of our room!
We watched with excitement!

And then the tide started heading back out.
What a thrilling show, God put on for us!

After the tide was way out,
I went for a walk on the beach
to see what I could find.

Nothing but Sea Foam and weeds.

This is looking back at where we were staying.

My friend was watching me and
 kept me company.

It looks like waves, but it's all foam!

Back in our room, we watched the sunset,
along with my faithful friend.

Our last night dinner at the beach
has always been, Dungeness Crab!

It was a GREAT vacation!!

If you ever get a chance to
visit the West coast,
you can't go wrong stopping and staying
at Cannon Beach!

A Very Brave Girl...INDEED!

This is my daughter, Kimmy,  with
my grand daughter, Lulu.
Lulu had surgery on her Achilles' tendons.

Lulu had her tendons, on both leg, worked on.

Two pretty pink casts on her legs,
for 6 weeks.

She came home to her anxious siblings,
who made cards and surprises for her.

Then Kimmy and Lulu got busy
decorating the pink cases!

Her friends took turns wheeling her around
before and after church.

This special girl didn't let two casts stop
her from helping at church!
Here she is, finding a way to help serve.

Lulu uses her wheelchair when she helps her
mom grocery shop or when going for a
walk around the block.

Around the house or even the backyard,
she now can walk!

To read more about Lulu, stop over at  Kimmy's blog:

My grandma heart is so overwhelmed with
thanks to God, for answering prayers!

Five Little "Monkeys" Sitting Up In Bed...

Tom and I had the pleasure of taking care of these
little guys for three days and two nights.

You can't see in the picture but, they are eating a
York Peppermint candy.
It's a tradition.
When they all have woken up,
they jump into our bed
and eat their candy.
Levi is the guy who knows where the candy is hidden.
He brings them back.
Then they play with our electric bed.
The head and feet go up, plus it vibrates!
So when the head is up and the feet
are up at the same time,
they get squished and call it "Barito".
(I don't know where that name came from)

This was Isaac's first time for the
morning candy/Barito ritual.

Kimmy and Mark went up to McCall
to enjoy some time away and relax.
It was Kimmy's other, Christmas present to Mark.
Her first one being, that he was going
to be a dad again with #6 due in August.

 Way to go...you two!

We played, went for walks in the snow,
did some chores,
read books and watched a movie or two.

Silas took his chore very seriously,
getting the mail.

Here he is sitting on the top of the couch, waiting for the mail truck to come.

Everyone missed each other!
Mom and dad returned to happy
squeals and lots of hugs.

Tom and I were left with silence.
I never liked it when other grandparents would say,
'It's great to have them for a while and then they can go home."

Not my sentiments!
I miss them.
But we are BLESSED because
they live just down the street!

Oh, the joys of being a grandparent!

*** 2018 ***

It was COLD but so much fun!
Sparklers are the best, especially in the snow.
Tom and I stood on the deck with Isaac,
while the kids celebrated.
Our breath made it fun for those who
were to old or to young for sparklers.

Mark out did himself this year
with a specular show!
