The Wave

Tom and I took a day trip to La Conner, Washington.
It is about an hour out of Seattle.
La Conner is a quaint, little town, perfect for antique shopping
or just getting away for an afternoon.

The Skagit Valley is an area that surrounds the town of La Conner.
It is famous for it's tulip and agricultural fields .

Winter time, the Snow Geese
live and graze on the plowed wheat fields.
A local farm has a contract to plant wheat and
harvest his fields for these birds.
In 1995 it became a snow geese reserve.
There are about 24,000 birds that call this home during the winter.

This is a video that I took last weekend.
Be sure to watch the whole video,
especially after the one minute mark.
And if you can, enlarge it to the full screen.
And don't forget to turn up the sound!
You'll soon understand why I titled this post,
  The Wave.

I tried to post the video without
related videos after mine was over.
Sure hope they are all appropriate.

  1. Sounds like fun! I tried to watch the video and it wouldn't play for me. It kept saying it was a private video and I couldn't watch it.

  3. Wow! That is just amazing! Steve was watching this with me and we've never seen anything like it.

I have to admit, at first I got a bit anxious - like I did when I was 12 and was allowed to watch The Birds on TV and freaked out. :)

  6. Christine, I do love your new blog header... lovely!

Thanks so much for stopping by. We love the snow birds when they migrate north... there's a big lake they come and stay a few days when they are going through. It's a sight and a half. I see you are enjoying that now. Loverly!

And what a great to take that day trip with your hubby. It sounds a delightful excursion.

    Blessings and blisses...

  7. That is almost a spiritual experience. Just wow! Amazing creatures, birds. Occasionally, I see large groups of them around here and they always move in harmony with each other. Just amazing.

  8. oh. my. goodness!! That is amazing... and their wings SOUND like a wave when they start taking off. Do you remember the movie, The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock? Reminds me a little of it. LOL! Once again, you and Tom do the most fun things! blessings ~ tanna

  9. Wow - an amazing video! I couldn't play it at first so I clicked and FF it and it played frame by frames like slides - so I saw it - so amazing how you caught it on film!! What a treasure of a landscape you have in your "vista" - and loved the grandbaby visit! The airport trio of pictures are priceless!
    Joy!
