Tom's Way of Skyping

Tom has the funniest sense of humor.
One of the reasons I married him.
And probably one of reasons we have been married so long.
(he even has his own blog but it's not for the faint of heart)

When he Skypes with our grandchildren,
you can never can predict what he will do.
He dresses up in hats, uses props, or plays tricks
of some sort with the kids.

 Here he is with binoculars.
"Ohh Papa", they all said in unison.
He has so much fun entertaining them.

This picture was taken off the computer, while skyping.
It was grand kids turn to entertain Papa.
They got dressed in their water vests.
We all laughed at who was funnier!

Here they all are!
Ila May had to take her vest off
because she couldn't sit down with it on.

We are heading over to Idaho so Tom can meet Silas!

This will be so much fun!

  2. This is wonderful..just soooooooooo precious...you both win the grandparents award.
Yes skyping...our daughter's wedding has been mentioned on Skyping because my son skyped it for my parents to see, since my dad had just had a stroke and missed the wedding. The nurses watched the wedding with my parents through skyping.

  3. Love this, Christine.
And I can identify in so many ways.
We began using Skype in 2005 when we lived and did ministry in Budapest, Hungary. It was truly a "life-line" to staying connected with our children, but more importantly with our grandchildren who would forget our faces/voices if we didn't remind them "in person" frequently. Since we sometimes only made it home once a year, it was a way to maintain a relationship with toddlers and pre-schoolers and even get the babies comfortable with our faces.
And my hubby, like yours, always uses it to play silly games. I remember the time he did the ancient "I've got your nose" trick by grabbing at the screen and holding his thumb between his fingers. And the just 3 year old started crying and told him to give her nose back. Usually, though, they love his antics. And even in the States, it makes calls with grandchildren so much better.
Thanks for sharing your light-hearted post and also for the interesting Skype facts I didn't know.
I may just have to do a 1-minute devotion on skype and link it to yours.
    Bless you,
    Gail

  6. Oh, Christine, I love this post! AND ... girlfriend, I am generally very computer savvy, but I'm having issues learning how to skype (pity, since we just came home from a three-week holiday and I couldn't figure out how to skype my sugar plum).

Here's the deal, my old laptop has no webcam, but we can purchase that separately. My problem is I have a Skype account; I just don't know how to get started. LOL! HELP!!! Can you email me? (dayle@dayleshockley.com)

  10. We SKYPE with our youngest daughter in Okinawa who SKYPES with her Marine hubby who is in Afghanistan. He also SKYPES with his parents and we are all thankful to keep in touch from such a distance. I also SKYPE with my oldest daughter in Indiana and our first granddaughter almost every day. Tanna is right; what would we do without it?
    Your guys are model grandparents!

  11. Praise God for the gift of intelligence he has given. I say that often, and I say it this morning for the gift of technology. What I wouldn't have given to be able to SKYPE with my grandparents when we moved 1000 miles away from them. I love what your Tom does. Believe it or not, as quiet as my husband is, I can TOTALLY see him doing stuff like that.

They are so adorable. I love that Ila May had to take her vest off to sit. So cute.

  13. Skype... what a wonderful way to stay connected with loved ones! And your Tom looks like the most fun Papa!

You mentioned the his sense of humor was one of the reasons you married him... funny mention that, because being able to find the humour and laugh at the same things was right at the top when I met Rick.

And you're right, it's the humour that keeps things 'lighter' when things get rough.
