Do you remember Betsy McCall, the paper doll? I remember spending hours cutting out her outfits each month. Even her undergarments were so cute.
Each month a new set of outfits and story. I would glue her onto cardboard and make a stand for her.
After awhile I started creating and designing my own fashions for Betsy.
No wonder I enjoyed sewing and dressing my own little girl.
Here is the web site so you can reminisce:

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Mother,
ReplyDeleteI just saw some paper dolls a while ago and thought of you. I remember you would buy them for me and I just loved them too. Sewing when you have a little girl to sew for is the best!!
Love Kimmy
I do remember these paper dolls! What fun they were. I will have to check out the link. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFunny...I did NOT remember Betsey McCall dolls until I read your post, Chris! Used to hoard those!!! I guess that explains why I always loved Mary Engelbreit's 'Ann Estelle' paper dolls in her magazine, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! I stumbled onto your blogsite and have been enjoying reading it. I remember the Betsy McCall paper dolls so well. Like you I cut them out and saved them. I played with them over and over. Thanks for bringing back such nice memories.
