Simple Pleasures

Have you every run out of gas?

This week, my Simple Pleasure is a full tank of gas.

Ahhhhh......

Dale at A Collection of This and That, is hosting Simple Pleasure on Thursdays.

"I've lived long enough to realize that the simple pleasures of life are the most important ones, but it's easy to let them slip by, unnoticed, during the busyness of an ordinary day. That's why I created the Simple Pleasures series, to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life. And whenever I do, I'm never disappointed. It might be the sound of a baby's laugh, the gentle splash of a summer rain against the window, or flowers in a jar on the kitchen windowsill."

  1. I had to fill the tank in my rental car many times very during our travel in the States this summer! I love the open road -- although after about 6 hours of driving, I've had enough for the day. :) We live in the very small counry of Kuwait where all borders are only an hour or so away; when we are in the States, my kids want to know way everything can't be closer.

Wishing you a beautiful day. Tammy

  2. Oh, Christine! I love this!! Yes, girl, I have run out of gas at least once in my life. Not fun. Thankfully, I have a husband who pretty much keeps the gas tank full for me. It is a wonderful simple pleasure. Thanks for linking up.

  3. I haven't run out of gas, but it's been close sometimes.

I like your take on even this 'simple pleasure'!

  4. I recently had to go to my parent's and borrow some of my dad's lawn-mower gas because I was afraid I wouldn't make it to the gas station!!
We don't have one in our little town and have to go a town over. I made it, but it made me pay more attention to my gas gauge as of late. :)
Hope you're going somewhere FAB with your full tank. :)

  6. I'm pretty spoiled because my husband always makes sure I have gas in my car. It's just one more thing he does to make me feel special. Have a great day and I hope you are going somewhere really good with your full tank!

  8. This one is great, and I would not have thought of it. You're right!! I feel almost almost "giddy" when I discover a full tank of gas.

  9. Funny you ask this question. I have never run out of gas. I have always been the type to make sure it never dropped below a quarter of a tank. Well, on Monday, I looked down to see there was little to NO gas in my tank...well that is what the gauge said! I hurried to the pump and filled it up. What happened? I have been so pre-occupied lately with so many things and the "normal" stuff has been slighted. I would have been one very unhappy camper if I had not made it to the gas pump.

    Big hugs,
    andrea

PS: Thanks for reminding me to be thankful...I am thankful I was able to fill up my tank...so many people might not have that ability and there have been times in my life I would not have been able to do so, either. So, I too am thankful for a full tank of gas.

  10. Oh yes, I have run out of gas, and was very grateful to a sweet older couple who "towed" my car to the gas station! What a great simple pleasure!

  13. Oh, yes. I have ran out of gas. Hitch-hiked home (Lord was watching over me!), called the mechanic... sent him to pick it up. He ASKED me if I had by chance ran out of gas, "Oh, no, it had gas." I replied... well, imagine my surprise when he called me back and told me I had run it slap out of gas! A full tank is indeed a simple PLEASURE. I hardly ever go below a quarter of a tank now. LOL.

  15. I sat at the gas station recently and saw a young person asking for $4 worth of gas. Aren't we fortunate that a full tank of gas is an ordinary event for us.

  16. I'm so guilty of letting that tank get dangerously low. I don't know why I torture myself that way! It's not worth the gamble, especially with the peace a full tank brings me! Excellent simple pleasure - one we take for granted surely.

  17. What simple pleasures like this does for me, is to make me stop and think about so many simple pleasures that comprise my weeks. I do not have any memories of ever running out of gas, but I do feel so good when I drive from the gas station with a full tank of gas. Thank you for this reminder.
