New Year's Memory Box

Kimmy made us memory boxes for Christmas.
She got cigar boxes and covered them with cute pictures and coordinating material.

When I opened mine up, there was a note with instructions.

This is going to be fun!

Tom and I headed out last Sunday for an adventure.
One of my favorite spots in the Seattle area is Alki Beach.
So that's were we needed up.

It was a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L day!
Cold but beautiful.

View from Alki looking at downtown Seattle.

 Beach Art

 This in our favorite cafe.

Very eclectic. Always something going on.
Plus, the food is yummy.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Mt. Rainier.
When you live in the Seattle area, we say "the mountain is out".
Everyone knows what you are talking about.
No need for an explanation.

We drove through downtown Seattle for this picture of the Space Needle.

After we finished our meal at the cafe, we were
given this sticker.
I knew just where it was going to go!
My first entry to the Memory Box.

Kimmy made Tom a New Years Memory Box, also.

She carved out the inside of this book!
Very cute!
Now, I wonder just what Tom will add to his memory box.
Any quesses?

  1. I love everything about this post!!
What a great idea for both memory boxes. That cafe looks like somewhere I'd love. :) It reminds of the "Sugar Shack" near my college campus where we used to hang out and perform at open mike nights and avoid our assignments. :)
Looks like you and Tom are starting the New Year off right. Great photos as usual, I want to come visit Seattle and have you as my personal tour guide!! :)

  2. Tom and I would LOVE to show anyone around the Seattle area. Just let me know when!

  3. WOW -- I love the idea of gifting someone with a beautiful memory box for the upcoming year. Yours is gorgeous, Christine. I also love your pictures of Seattle. The mountains are just beautiful. I can tell that you really love your neck of the woods. It looks like you and Tom had a wonderful day.

  4. I love the idea of a memory box. All the memories of the year in one place. How fun will that be to open the memory box at the end of the year and remember all the wonderful things that you did during the year.
You two started the year off right!! Looks like a fabulous day.

  5. Kimmy did great on this gift!! I love the idea and the execution!

You and Tom have such wonderful adventures! I love taking them with y'all vicariously through your photos and words. Look forward to seeing what else goes "into the box" this year! Have a wonderful day, Christine.

  6. What a great idea! Love the virtual tour. The scenery is awesome. Thanks for sharing. Jude

  7. We too have a favorite cafe/coffee shop we visit after church each Sunday ~ Java Junction.

But . . . here in Brockport everything is so flat and we have no beautiful mountains to look at. Lucky you!

Great first addition to your memory box.

  8. What a great Christmas gift! I really like the idea. It looks like you and Tom made great memories that day. Wonderful!

  9. Awesome post! I have never been to the west coast and would love to visit one day. Maybe that will be in GODS plan for me!

I have never had the opportunity to visit the west coast and I hope I do. Washington and Oregon are definitely on my list of 'places I want to see'. Your photos are so pretty. Neat looking restaurant!
