Humming Bird from a distance
Just had to include Arthur,
who loves to sit in the window sill,
while Tom works in the office.

I made a "watering hole" for these birds from a tuna can and wire.
They love it, because it's sturdy and easy to drink from.
Plus, you can hang it just about anywhere, branches of trees, tomato cages or fences.
And so easy to make!

Me too! I wonder what I could get done if I could just keep my mind and my eyes inside in the mornings. The bird feeders are the most popular place here as Handyman and I are constantly telling each other 'what we saw going on at one of the feeders". We actually get excited when we see something different and out come the binoculars and the book! I laugh when it reminds me of the Jimmy Stuart vacation at the ocean when he goes birdwatching with one of his guests. "Mr Hobbs Takes a Vacation". I laughed at that for years; now we're doing it! I'd say we should get a life, but I think this is it. Oh well, it's cheap and legal!

I will have to share these with Benjamin...oh I wish we had some places for birds to come to our backyard, I too enjoy watching. We did have a hummingbird feeder at the other house and so enjoyed watching.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Aw, they are so sweet! You know, with this litter of kittens in my backyard, I don't have as many birds!
ReplyDeleteI love your little watering hole! What a great idea!
Great idea with the tuna can. Amazing shots of the birds. I suppose if I would put out feeders I would get finches and cardinals. At least that is what I see flying around but the neighbor has the need to feed the squirrels. In years past I have had to chase the squirrels away so no feeders this summer. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLove my birds, too - we have the same smattering you do - though I don't see the goldfinches and juncos too often. My neighbor gets all the hummers as her yard is a butterfly and hummer paradise! I also don't get good pictures like you seem to have gotten! Just as I get one of our feathered friends in the scope - GONE!
ReplyDeleteNo problem capturing the wild turkeys that cruise through the yard on occasion. And I did get the hawk a few months ago.
But my little fellows - and the chatty wren - are elude me every time.
Fleeting pleasures . . .
Joy!

They are all soooo beautiful. My favorite....your sweet dog. What would we do without our animals.
ReplyDeleteLoved getting to see your bird visitors AND your new header! AS ALWAYS, gorgeous! Tuna can was a great idea. Arthur is enjoying himself! LOL! blessings ~ tanna

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the cute pics!!
We love birds too, I love your tuna can water dish. We'll have to try that! Your family is just so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI made my tuna can water bath dish today and had the hardest time punching the holes! So far no one has visited it, we hope to see someone using it soon!
