Back in the Swim of Things

Retreat Time!
At the beginning of the school year,
  the school district's office staff,
gets together to be inspired and motivated.
This year was the BEST ever!
 I have been emcee
for this annual retreat for four years
and this was my "swan song".

Our theme for this year was
"Just Keep Swimming".
We had Charthouse come and present,
We had fish were everywhere.
Room Before
After - Room Decorated

The colorful, stuffed fish were provided by
one of the Junior High School's Art department.
Our speaker, Steve Mintz
 Door prize drawing.
A fish bowl with every one's name inside.
I used painter's tape on the outside of the bowl
and drew little fish on the tape.

Each lady received a specially, designed fish note pad, pen, fish tattoos and shark candy.
We kept things plain and simple but fun.

Steve Mintz (an Adam Sandler look-a-like)
was exciting, funny and engaging.
Looked who dressed like him.
(Just a funny coincidence.)

My question....
How can we top this retreat, next year?

Now for my thoughts about concept of  FISH! Philosophy.

When I started my job six years ago,
I knew I wanted to make a difference.
Plus, I needed to look forward to going to work everyday.
Then I came across the FISH! Philosophy.
My faith in God is strong. I knew He would be with me, always.
But  FISH! Philosophy, is about giving me permission to be me, while at work.
These are the four FISH! fundamentals:
To Play
To Be There
To Make Their Day
To Choose My Attitude

I have spent the last six years implementing these four points into my job.
I believe that God has used me to make a difference, while I useing this philosophy.

This school year, I'm going to "Just Keep Swimming".

  1. What a great philosophy to have! It looks like there was a lot of fun and love the decorations. Have a great day! Judy

  2. This is just great...and this parent is praying for the teachers and staff...what an awesome responsibility.

Our son starts Friday...we are needing to get into the swim of things.

  3. How I admire your positive attitude! Great theme and nice decorations. I hope you have a wonderful year!

  4. I love the theme for this year. I also think the FISH philosophy is awesome! Hope your school year is a great one.

You have such a great attitude! :)

  5. Christine
I commend you! It is so obvious that you have given much time and prayer to the position the Lord has placed you in. And he, in turn, has given you fresh ideas and insight. Bless you! I can only imagine the difference your attitude has made in your workplace
    Keep up the great work!

  6. Christine - This is totally my place right now! Getting ready for another school year - and a challenging one at that! My third year with the charter school in our town - and a new campus opening - teaching drama - the charter is for performing arts schools so drama is foundational. I have closed down all the other freelance jobs I had to focus in on my growing responsibilities at school. We muster next week. You desire mirrors mine - to be salt and light! Keep swimming! I shall remember that! I have a feeling I'll need to . . .

  7. Thanks for getting a picutre of you and the speakier! I know I asked you to do that.....lol. Look like you had a great time.

  8. Swim on!! I think you are leading the 'school' of fish to deeper water and lots of good things!! Yea, Christine!!

I love those fish hanging from the ceiling!! And, there is no doubt whatsoever that you are making a difference... blessings ~ tanna

  9. How very clever! love the fish hanging from the ceiling! I just know they all love you, Chris. :)

  10. Hi Christine, I can tell you upbeat, positive attitude is infectous to all those around and that the Lord has anointed you for such a time as this. Great job!
    Have a great day.
    Hugs, Noreen

  11. It sounds just wonderful, and I can tell just from "knowing" you that those kids have a special friend in the office.

I like that philosophy, especially that last one.

  12. Sounds like you are off to the start of a great school year! The decorations are great! and what a great opportunity you and all of us that work in public education have. Have a blessed year! Jackie

  13. I can't help but think you are all in for another great year. A good attitude is so contagious, and that is what I see in you. That plus creativity. The fish idea is really a great idea! Do you always dress like your speakers?:)
