The Secret Is Out

There is only a few days left of school.
That means only a few days until I retire.
So I wanted to reveal a secret.
I started leaving these cards in staff member's mailboxes.

Nobody has guessed it was me!

So for my final gift,

I wrote on the back of each note card
a quote about Kindness.
Leaving them in each box today as my final
Random act of Kindness.
This time I signed my name.

  1. Kristine, you have so many gifts, not the least of which is kindess.
What a loss for the people at your school! They are going to miss you. We will benefit in your having more adventures with Tom and our gettting to see the pictures and hear from you more often. :D I HOPE :O

  2. This is absolutely THE BEST idea! I love that you took the time and care to do this for your co workers. They will never forget you and your kindness to them. "Kindness gives birth to kindness", and you shared a good example of that. Great post!

  3. Oh, how fun...and what a cute way of telling them it was you! Boy oh boy are they going to miss you! You've been like a secret (and sometimes not so secret) little fairy, spreading love and kindness everywhere. So cute...and inspiring to me, too! Lots of tears on your last day, I'm thinking. But that's how it should be....wonderful memories and excitement to move on to the next thing!

  4. What a beautiful thing to do for your co-workers. They are going to miss you, but I think you are going to miss them as well. It's hard to say goodbye, but it's exciting moving on with the next phase of your life.

  11. Christine, I love your secret and not-secret acts of kindness. There is a Jewel song... I hear the words often in my head... "in the end, only kindness matters..." I couldn't agree more. Nice matters. Kindness matters. Yes, Ma'am. They are going to miss you!! blessings ~ tanna

  14. You are so kind. Your spirit and love just shines in your blog.

Retirement and young to enjoy it. Good for you.

Steve is counting the years but our hang up is health insurance. It's too expensive to pay out of pocket for 8 more years for the both of us. Especially now with the cancer, our medical costs will be sky high for a long time.

  16. Congratulations on your retirement Christine! I think this is one of the sweetest gifts you could have given your friends, the notes will always be cherished by them, and what a wonderful way to remember you!

I am sitting here in awe of this act of kindness, how many times have we needed a word of encouragement, you may never know of how the timing was perfect for someone needing this encouragement!
I am so glad you are my friend!!
    Hugs,
    Sue

  17. Christine - I LOVE this! You must work in a nice place. Congrats on retiring, though - I'm sure you'll be busier, too! Such a thoughtful random act - but really, not so random - it was purposeful and I'm sure will not soon be forgot by the recipients.
    Joy!

  18. Totally Love this idea...and am planning on stealing it and using it myself ...when my days of teaching come to an end.

I just know that Those cards will be secreted away into special little boxes and special little files.
They will be placed with things of great sentimental value
that have been saved in your friends houses through the years,
    What a fabulous idea.

And it speaks volumes about the kind of person that you are too.

    In Him,
    Grace
