Something New In Seattle

Seattle has been known for the Space Needle,
which is celebrating it's 50th Birthday this year.

I have lived in the Seattle area all my life and
remember my first ride up the Space Needle.
I was ...ah humm...10 years old.

Today Seattle has another treasure that has just made it's debut to the skyline,
Still adding the gondolas.
The Big Wheel sits at the end of a pier,
on the downtown water front.

At night, it puts on a light show.
View from inside one of the gondolas, that seat six,
 heated and air conditioned.

We haven't gone down to take our turn, yet.
I am looking forward to sharing
the experience.

  1. Oh how exciting. Ferris Wheels are wonderful, but I must confess that I have never been on one that was climate controlled. How cool is that!

I foresee a date for you and hubby pretty soon.
Looking forward to seeing photos from inside The Wheel.

We have never been to Seattle, but would love to see it. We also want to visit Canada...British Columbia. Several of our friends have been and tell us that it is just gorgeous.

If we ever get around to takings road trip i may ask you for travel tips about your state.

    Blessings to you and yours.
    In Him,
    Grace

  3. It's a lovely addition, although I would be terrified in such a thing. The Man calls the carousel my ride. HA!. Speaking of The Man, he and I are considering a trip to Seattle before the end of the year. What about them apples?

  4. That is pretty awesome! I'm a bit afraid of heights though so not sure I'd attempt it. My daughter on the other hand, she'd be on it in a heartbeat.

  5. My first trip up the Space Needle was in July of 1962. We were in Bellevue for the World's Fair. Maybe we were there together?!

  6. I'm blaming you for the song that is now stuck in my head. From that first picture and title, I starting hearing,

"The bluest skies you've ever seen, in Seattle..." Now I'm singing it. In my head, I sound just like Bobby Sherman.

The wheel looks like the London Eye. My sister just visited there and said it was wonderful. I hope you get in the wheel soon and give us a wheel's eye view.

  7. I agree with the others, it reminds me of London. Maybe Seattle is London West? LOL. You definitely should check it out for us and take lots of pictures.

  9. They are wanting to put one in Dallas...we have a smaller one at the fair grounds...this is just great.

We have a very precious young man in Seattle for the summer interning with Alaska airlines. He is my son's best friend, and a wonderful Christian young man...he was in last week telling me all about your city. He loves the people.

  13. Hey, it's been too long since I've been by your blog. And you posted the new Ferris Wheel in Seattle. I just look at the gray skies and say, "yup, that's Seattle."

The Wheel looks and sounds pretty cool doesn't it? I'm not sure if I want to ride. It goes sooooo high and I think it's going to be expensive. Maybe some day.

So how are you doing? Any vacation plans? Grandkid fun? Parties or weddings or births?

I'm having shoulder surgery July 13th and so far I've been a taxi all summer. I've got one in Driver's Ed and one in summer school.

I won't be doing all the driving after surgery though so will be seeking my friends and family to help me out.

Have a very nice summer. It's good to see the blue skies and sunshine now.
