We are experiencing something new.
Wild Fires!!
Driving home the I noticed
a strange cloud.
When I got home, I turned on the local News.
We were told that
a huge forest fire had broken out.
It was about
thirty miles from where we live.
We decided to go and see for
ourselves what it looked like.
This is the road going into the town
nearest the fire.
The smoke had covered the sky!
Up in the mountains, the sky
had an orange tint to it and the sun
was bright gold.
To close for comfort.
We headed back home.
This picture was taken just outside our front door,
looking West.
(yes, that's a dead tree in our front yard)
Update:
Last night I took Lucy outside for her "break" and the sky was
lit up all red from the fires!
It is now 220,000 acres huge and growing every minute.
It's only 11% contained.
We are staying indoors because of all the smoke.

There are so many fires going on... it's scary. There isn't going to be any forest left. :( Someone on FB posted a map of all the fires in WA, OR, and ID. Yikes! http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=ed0a7dad32fe4848b20c6f91c74c79ea
ReplyDeleteSo many fires this year everywhere. We've had days of smoke too earlier this summer.
ReplyDeletePerhaps lands are dry because people's hearts have grown dry... praying for refreshing rains for hearts and souls as well as forests, thirsty earth, and wild things.
Sending a big hug and prayers for safety.

Yes do stay indoors. I can't imagine living that close to a huge fire. Praying for you and the guys fighting the fire. It is so dangerous!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Please stay safe, my friend. Prayers for your community.
ReplyDeleteLast night on the news they shared this story again, and I actually thought about you and your family. I am thankful that you posted this. I am sure you feel like it is too close for comfort. My prayers continue for you.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Prayers to stay safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for your friendship. It is a true treasure to me.
