What is the difference
between a Clementine and Tangerine?
Clementines are the smallest members of the
mandarin family and are seedless.
The peel is smooth, glossy and a deep orange.
They are available from
November until April.
This varietal was created by a French missionary
over a 100 years ago.
His name was Marie-Clement Rodier.
Clementines have been a staple, as a centerpiece,
on our kitchen table for the past month.
Look what landed on the table
when I replenished
the bowl.

"He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
He counts the stars and calls them by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!"
Psalms 147: 3-5
I absolutely love Clementines, Christine, while reading our weekly food adds today I saw where they were advertised, buy 1 bag and get one free! Plan to buy tomorrow!

I enjoyed this info.... both of them are considered a favorite of mine! Had a tangerine last evening...with salt. I know that by adding salt, it takes away the healthy part of eating this fruit, but I eat almost all fruit with salt with the exception of bananas and kiwi....
ReplyDeleteThey didn't tell us what a tangerine was! haha...they aren't as easy to peel, I know that much!
ReplyDeleteDid you just get a free necklace with your clementines? I never knew all this about them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYummy, I love clementines, or tangerines, either one! We had a friend just bring us some fresh tangelos from California, oh my! SO juicy and good! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a bowl full of clementines, too. They're wonderful snacks.
ReplyDeleteYes! Clementine's are a staple here at our house, as well.
ReplyDeleteLove them!
Christine this was a wonderful post. I learned something new!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend! I am gearing up to start another semester of school on Monday. :)
Thank you for that lesson, Christine. I've been buying them regularly lately. the first bag was sweet, the last not at all...
