The End

Last Friday, I did it. I retired!
Actually, I turned in all my paperwork.
June 29th will be my last day with the School District.

Tom and I went to the Administration Office together.
It was a decision that came fast and with lots of prayers.

I told myself years ago, that if God wanted me to leave this job,
He had to let me know, in an obvious way.
Well, He did!
I listened!

Afterwards, Tom and I went to one of my favorite coffee shops
and celebrated with.......

Chocolate!

One very happy lady.
Don't know what's up next.
Still listening for God's call.

  2. Congratulations! Your life has been one continual adventure this year, and you really and truly inspire me.

I am praying for a bolder spirit. I don't do change well, and I know it's a lack of faith on my part.

    I'm proud to know you!

  3. Congrats on your retirement! A new chapter of your life is about to begin. My momma has been contemplating retirement for sometime now & I think she meets with the retirement board next month. Hope you enjoy your new journey. Prayers coming your way :)

  5. Congratulations! What a surprise! I actually gasped aloud when I read the news. It's always exciting when God leads us into something new. I know it will be hard to leave, but also a great time to look forward to the next thing happening.

  12. I'm back like a bad penny.
I was thinking that I'm really snoopy and wish you had told us the obvious way God confirmed it.

I always want a big neon sign that say, "Debbie... go here." I never get one.

    Just teasing...

  14. Relax and Refresh

Many friends will ask you "what you will be doing next?".

My advice is not to be afraid to say "nothing". Enjoy a bit of down time before beginning any new adventures.

    You've earned it.

  16. Congratulations to you! What a huge step, but I love how you posted it, with God closing one door and opening another. I have found that to be so true in my life journey. I just know God will lead you in such a special way. You gave so much of yourself to those children. Wishing you the best!

  17. Christine,
I am very happy for you.
Hubby and I are on the cusp of some decisions as well. (Not really time to retire just yet, I still need about 3 years before I will be fully vested, I think. He came in to the profession after I did, and so he needs about 5.)

BUT...Monday will likely be a very interesting day.
It is highly probable that I am going to be applying for an Assistant Principal position with a Christian School in our city.

It would mean walking away from my "retirement". And I have to tell you that I find that a very scary concept...to be so close to having it secured...and then potentially doing something very stupid.

But this is in God's Hands.

If it is HIS will that I get that job, then He will also take care of us.

Just like I told you...I am praying to BE in His WILL...and that he open the doors he wants me to go through...and the he close the ones he wants me to stay out of.

    And the rest is FAITH.

Will let you know more if there are any developments in this situation.

    Meanwhile...congrats.
You have given your last round of state tests...done your last bit of hall duty...cleaned your last chalkboard...but TEACHERS never stop teaching.

It will be very interesting to see what The Lord calls you to do with all the skills that he has cultivated in you throughout your classroom teaching career.

Blessings to YOU and YOUR HUBBY!
    In Him
    Grace

  18. This is my first time here...I think.

Anyhoo, congrats on retirement. Any possible plans? Chocolate is appropriate for any occasion. Don't think I need an excuse for it though but I could make one up fairly quick.

About the open door pic: It made me think back to reading how we like to say we'll walk in faith through that open door but then we want to know what's on the other side. Wouldn't be faith then, huh? And if we knew what was there, we might decide for ourselves whether we want to go. What's best for us is not always pleasant because it may cause us to surrender and/or grow. Ouch. Just some thoughts.

    A pleasure to be here.
