Early to Bed, Early to Rise

New Years Eve 2011

I went over to play with the grandchildren and
to help them prepare for the end of the year celebration.
Here we are making "noise makers" out of paper plates and beans.
(Tom couldn't be with us because he was working the graveyard shift)
Next, Kimmy and I went through our Memory Boxes.
It's a synopsis of mementos from the year.
This was fun!!
I'm always good for a book or two.
Earlier in the day, Kimmy and I went
and had our toes painted.
I decided to be adventurous and go wild!
Lulu &I were playing Footsie.
More silliness!
This was a fun game.
We try to guess what is on our foreheads,
by asking questions to each other.
We toasted to the incoming year.
No......the kids drank sparkling cider.
Each had their own cute little bottles.
Kimmy got out her wedding crystal.
After an itsy bitsy sip...
I headed home around 10:00 PM.

Early to Bed, Early to Rise,
Makes me a bit more Wise.

  1. What a fun time with your grandkids on New Years Eve! I love making memories!

    Happy 2012!!

  2. What could be more fun than sharing an evening with your sweet grandkids?
Happy New Year to you! You are lookin' good, Christine...younger now than you did last year! I'll bet you feel younger too! You're an inspiration!
I'll be sure to tell Crystal you said hello!

  3. Happy New Year Christine! What a fun time you had. Of course you always seem to have fun times. Your grandkids are so precious. They will remember these times with you forever.

  4. Grandkids are WONDERFUL.
Thanks for sharing the day with us.

Btw...I don't think that we have been introduced yet.

Hello...I am Grace. Here's a little about me:
My husband and I married in 1980, we are both Christians and are both teachers. We have 1 daughter who is married to my wonderful son in law. They have 1 son, and another baby on the way. We get to visit with them often.

It's Very Nice to make your acquaintance.

And I LOVED the "I Go To The Sea To Breathe" section of your blog.

ME TOO! I have severe asthma, and I literally DO breathe better at the SEA than anywhere else. I too go to the sea to breathe.

You have a beautiful blog and it's a pleasure to visit.

    In Him,

  5. What a fun time! I love the idea of gathering the stuff in the memory box all year and then going through it on New Year's Eve.

I am starting a new box TODAY. That's the best idea I've heard in a long time.

Happy New Year (and you really look wonderful... I know I told you that in your makeover reveal post, but I'm saying it again.)

  6. Happy New Year, my friend. I love the noisemakers (great idea and memory for me. I know I made those when I was a youngster. Forgot about that.) and the wild toenails...

Your a fun grandma!! I can tell. ;)

  7. Christine,
Your evening with Kimmy and her family, brought BIG smiles to my face, I can only imagine the smiles on yours!
    Dee Dee

  8. I know I sound like a broken record here, but you have the "funnest" times. I want to be you when I grow up. :)

My favorite is the "head" game. HA! Love that.

  9. You go girl.
    But . . .
I am a bit afraid you might just disappear if you lose any more weight!

  10. Great way to spend the day! Love the polish choice. Looks more like those toes belong in the sands of southwest Florida!! Happy New Year to you, Tom and the family. Judy

  11. We had fun! Thanks for joining us.

  12. Love your grandchildren Christine love the pictures, Happy New Year:)

  13. Oh, sounds like lots of fun! This is the third blog I've been on today where they were showing off their newly painted toenails! Must be a New Years kind of thing to do! ha.

  14. We barely made it to ten too, Christine! Does look like you had more fun than we did!! Happiest of new years! blessings ~ tanna

  15. A perfect way to end the year!
It looks like you were having as much fun as the g'children.
I love that headband game. I'll have to try to find that to have for our next get together.

  16. Oh, could those photos be more adorable??? ITA, I'm an early to bed kinda gal myself. Actually, I was wrestling with a fever and stomach flu on New Years. It's up from there, right?

  17. I can see by these pictures that you all had so much fun. The memories you created for your grandchildren are priceless. I actually did not stay up to see in the new year either. Maybe I am a bit wise too:) Great post!
