Art Gallary

What do you do with ALL the drawings that you get from
your children or grandchildren?
I don't have the heart to throw them away.
I love each one!

We started taping them up on a door
and when we ran out of room,
it started down the hallway wall.

Now that wall is full!

So, down off the walls, the artwork will come.
 Then into 3-ringed notebooks.
Each grandchild will get their very own binder.

Eventually, I'll give them their binders.
They will be full of fun memories and their
 drawings that they had drawn for
Papa and me!

Right now,
 I'm still sorting them out
 by grandchild.
Oops!
I only have two notebooks.
Looks like I need more!
At least 5 more!

Manners Class

Kimmy, our daughter, Home-Schools her children.
I am so pleased with her abilities
and the progress of
each child.

To my surprise, she asked me to do a
segment on Manners.

She must of remembered when she and her brother were threaten and then finally had manners class, during summer vacation!

Yup, I had both kids sit down and
we went over all
the particulars of manners and etiquette.

Something I don't think both forgot,
 because I was pretty stick and thorough.

If you know me,
 you know that I'm pretty serious when it comes to
teaching and learning.
I got right to work and learned as much as I could.
(I only had one hour to teach this class)

First, we started with the difference between
Manner vs, Etiquette.
Do you know the difference?
(answer at the end)

Some kids were serious about the subject.
Others were easily distracted.

After going over the facts,
they did some hands-on practice.

I had them set, a place setting,
 (BMW - bread, meal, water)
Pass food to the right, with please and thank you's.
Which way to approach a chair and which way to get up.
How to leave your silverware when finished with a meal.
Wait until the hostess sits and picks up her fork before eating.
How to place a napkin on your lap and where it goes when you need to leave the table and come back.
And much more!

That night they all came over for dinner.
It was the final test!
I graded them on the things we learned!

Levi took it more serious then I thought!
He came to dinner with a Cheat Sheet
and asked if he could use it!

As it turned out, he didn't need it.
Levi and all the rest did a great job!

Levi's Cheat Sheet
I'll try to explain this picture because it's so cute!

Top, middle is a chair with arrows showing
which way to enter and exit when sitting.

The "hand" on the left is showing which way to pass food to the right.
The "hands" on the right are passing salt & pepper, together!
The X and arrow, ???
The drawing on the right edge is him burping with his hand over his mouth,

And now for the answer to the question
Manners vs. Etiquette.

Manners are things you do that show respect and courtesy to others.
Etiquette are the set rules for different occasions,

Going Political...

Yup, stating MY OPINION!

This is our flag pole on a stormy day.

The up coming November election
 has been and will be,
stormy and discouraging for both sides.

I'm suggesting that, no matter what,
 get out and
VOTE.

I've read and heard others say,
 they aren't going to vote this
November and that is a shame.
Yes, shame on THEM !

It's not just about the Presidential election!!
There are thousands of important races going on.
Not just the White House,
but
U.S. Senate, Congressional districts
and your very own state governments.
counties, cities and villages.
There are issues, that need to be voted on.
They ALL need your vote and support.

Let's not forget about our troops,
who need your vote and support, too!
They live to protect YOU and your family.
They are counting on ALL of
us to do the right thing, by voting.

~~~***~~~
We need to elect people who
 uphold and protect Biblical truths or
at least those who
wouldn't work against it.
Here are some resources for voters guidelines,
to help us.
No matter how stormy it is,
VOTE
or darker days will prevail.
Party Time!
When you have seven grandchildren
there is always a birthday!
That means it's Party Time!
It was Levi's 7th birthday and he wanted an
airplane cake.
 Kimmy asked me if I could make the cake.
She  was sweet enough to give me the instructions,
which were really easy.
(she knows I like easy!)
for instructions
At first Levi didn't know what the cake was.
But then he figured it out and was thrilled.
Mark and Kimmy hide his birthday present
in the barn. Levi was so excited about
his new bike, that he rode it
through the grass, all the way back to the house.
Once the bike came back,
Lulu took it for a spin around the living room.
Todd and Stephanie,
(our son and daughter-in-law),
drove over to see
Kimmy and Mark for a few days.
Tom and I were still back in Seattle, visiting.
We knew this ahead of time and
were disappointed not to see
all seven grand kids together.
But....
We have pictures!
Ila May, Isaac, Lulu, Silas, Levi, Scarlett and Trey
With their parents,
End of Summer BIG Splash
Some of our vegetables grew
 while we were away.
But not a lot of them.
My garden got hit with BLIGHT!
Our apple tree, tomatoes, zucchini and just about
anything else that grew!
Two things grew real well.
The basil and peaches.
With so much Basil, I needed to come up with
a way of preserving it.
Easiest way,  freeze it.
 Blanch the leaves in boiling hot water for 2 seconds.
Immediately, put them in ICE cold water.
Dry them completely.
Put them in between layers of parchment paper.
Use an air tight container.
Ready for freezing!
Our little freezer is so happy now
with all the peaches we have picked.
So is Tom!
Sadly, this is all we got out of the garden
before that nasty Blight got to it.
Well, it's the end of summer and I
thought I'd show you how
I entertained my grandchildren.
I made a big splash!
I've been doing this "dive" for years!
When I was in Junior High,
 I went away to a summer camp.
There was a contest for the craziest dive.
Well, let's just say...
I went home one happy camper.
So long Summer!
It's been one to remember!
"While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease."
Genesis 8:22
So Many Celebrations... So Many Pictures
Tom and I just returned from a trip to Seattle.
Boy, did we celebrated!
Two Birthdays!
Stephanie, our daughter-in-law, received the
picnic blanket, I made for her birthday.
Trey celebrated turning 4!!!!!
We gave him, his very own shovel, rake, hat and work gloves.
He is really into dirt.
He went right to work, digging in his play area.
We also, celebrated with Trey's friends and family
with a party for him.
Todd and Steph bought a blow-up slide for all
the kids to play on.
Perfect for this very HOT day!
One of the days, Tom and I got to babysat,
 while mom and day went to work.
Hot tub, Bonfire, walks to the "Club House",
 (otherwise know as the grocery store for a cookie)
and snuggles.
Just couldn't get enough!
LOOK WHO IS WALKING!!!!
We celebrated this moment!
 Scarlett took some of her first steps
while we were there!
In this picture, Papa is dragging Trey.
It's a fun thing, that they do together.
We visited and celebrated
my Aunt Bobbie's new home.
She now lives with her grandson and is so happy!
We went out for a seafood lunch.
(Really miss fresh seafood)
On our way back to Seattle,
we rode on a ferry boat.
Ahhh...fresh, salt water air!!
Tom and I went to our annual, concert at a winery.
We joined hundreds of others, waiting in line.
Another evening, we walked around Redmond and celebrated, Night Nosh.
There were  a variety of food trailers with live music and dancing.
It's always fun to go "home" and visit with family
and the friends we left behind.
Seattle / Redmond, will always have a place in my heart.
We are home now and enjoying the end of summer.
Looking forward to Fall!
