Reading...

Lulu,
our olderst grandchild,
(who isn't a child anymore ),
asked me what my favorite movie is.
We had a fun conversation about our choices.

Mine is, Anne of Green Gables.

Here is Lulu in front of our sweet, friend's home,
which remind me of Green Gables.

After discussing which was better
 the book or the movie,
Lulu wanted me to read her
Anne of Green Gables.
She said, "The book is so much better then the movie.".

Yes, she was right, the book was so much better then the movie.
You can actually use your imagination!
I loved it!!!!!

"Isn't is splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about?
It just makes me feel glad to be alive-- it's such an interesting world,
It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it?
There'd be no scope for imaginationn then, would there?"
~Anne of Green Gables~

Taking a cue from the book,
I found a fun and romantic spot to read.

"It must be a great deal better to be a sensible woman.
I don't believe I'd really want to be a sensible person,
 because they are so unromantic."
~Anne of Green Gables~

As a Thank You to Lulu for loaning her book to me,
I made her a bookmarker
specifically for her book.

I pressed Violas...

and added a Bible verse that I really like.

What I learned from reading
Anne of Green Gables,
is that an imigination is a good thing and I
need to stop and try to use it more often.

But I don't think I'll quit being sensible or wise, either.

New At This...

Learning how to eat from our garden.

Every step is a learning experience.
From how to harvest and how to preserve or use
the produce to it's fullest potential.

We learned how to pickle our first batch of beets.

Tom jumped in to lend a hand (or two).

These are really delicious!

And the best part is,
there are so many more beets waiting in the garden.
Next... we might try canning some.

:::::::::::::::::::::::

The lettuce is doing so well!
This is for dinner tonight, when our family
comes for dinner!

Menu: Chicken Caesar Salad, crusty bread,
and pickled beets on the side.

At Grandma's house, there is always dessert...
Root Beer Floats tonight.
With tempertures up in the 100's, it will be a perfect dessert.

Freshly picked carrots are a great way to start off the evening.
I hope they washed the carrots first.

How do you use your garden produce?

Celebrating 246 Years !

Happy 4th of July!

This is a beautiful, handmade quilt,
that was given to me from a good friend
who still lives in the Seattle area.

It needed to be quilted.
So, another good friend (here in Idaho),
volunteered to quilt the back for me.

 Now it's my turn
to hand stich the boarder.

It's priceless to me!

~~~***~~~
Top Down!
Tom and I took a Sunday, evening drive into the country
and drove past farm after farm.
It smelled so good.
We headed back home as the sun went behind clouds.
Big day tomorrow, 4th of July.
~~~***~~~

That's Tom behind the flag- haha

We found "our " spot along the parade route.
This is Melba, Idaho, a small town,
with a perfct, small town parade.

Lulu, Kimmy and me

It is always well attended and everyone is so
patriotic, courteous, and friendly.
Small Town!

To start the parade off,
the motorcycles revved up their engines!
My favorite part!

This parade is so friendly.
Ila and her friend, asked the horsewoman a question.
She even stopped to answer them!

You always know when the parade is over.

~~~***~~~
After the parade we set up camp for a great view
for the fireworks.
We had time to go home, to feed the dog and some of us, took a nap.
Then we headed back down to where we had left our "camp".
We brought our RV,
 so we can have the comfort of
all it's facilities.
While waiting, it was a great time to play,
snack and get caught up on life.
The kids enjoyed rolling down the hill on the blankets.
Mark is a great dad!
More like a kid himself.
Creativity abounds while waiting
Then, right on time,
the show begins...
Then the  ooouuu's and ahhh's  can be heard all during the show.
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; the people whom he has chosed for his inheritance."
Psalm 33:12
