On The Road Again

Things are back to somewhat "normal" with 

my eyes, so we took off for an quick 

camping trip.

We jumped into our Van and headed out to one of 

my favorite camp sites.

We weren't sure what was open or 

what we could or couldn't do.

The web site said, 

no fires, no showers and no garbage pick ups.

But we prepared for just about anything. 

Good morning!

Hot coffee served with a smile.

Banjo had a great spot, as a look out.

And he was thrilled to meet anything or anyone.

These two played for the longest time.

While we talked to his owner.

And so did these two!

Dogs and kids are Banjo's favorite things!

As it turned out, we could have a fire.

(plus showers and garbage pickups)

Bring on the Polish Dogs!

Because I didn't think we could have a fire,

I bought a treat for Tom.

What's camping without S'mores?

Did you know you could buy 

S'mores already made?

Not as good as the real deal.

But I think I should of told Tom ahead of time

to take the wrapper off.

OH, well, he enjoyed his way.

The smoke and sunshine created 

a interesting picture.

You can actually SEE the sun rays.

God is good!

Time went quickly and we headed home with a promise

to be back soon.

** Word of Warning to all **

Dog Lovers!

While Banjo was out for his supervised (on a leash),

  walks in the woods,

he came in contact with a harmful and potentially, deadly weed.

(But we didn't know this)

After every walk, we'd inspect him and pick off all the pine needles

and anything else that stuck to his fur.

He started limping and whining.

We couldn't see what was bothering him.

One week later, he was still limping and licking the bottom of his foot.

We'd looked and looked, but nothing!

Finally, we saw that his foot pad was pink'ish.

I ran for a flashlight, a magnifying glass and tweezers. 

Tom saw it and pulled it out!

 The remnants of an awns from

 Hare Barley.  

Research told me that it is very harmful, even deadly, to dogs.

Praising God for helping us track it down and 

removing it from Banjo's paw.

  next to a fountain pen.

It's was very small.

No wonder we couldn't see it.

And look how sharp it is!

OUCH!

Banjo is doing fine now.

Coronavirous  Has Hit Close To Home

Tom and I had plans to visit our three grandchildren, who live in Seattle.

But sadly, we canceled our visit.

We have family that live in the neighborhood, 

where the outbreak of the virus, has taken lives.

Tom and I aren't fearful,

just cautious and are waiting to see how this will playing out. 

before we head over.

Huxley is now 7 months old.

He sits up and has 5 teeth.

All this happened since we last saw them.

Trey is 7 years old

Scarlett is 4 years old

Trey won 1st place in sparing and 3rd in Kara forms.

Scarlett loves to swim and can't wait
to get in the pool.

Scarlett has been writing me the cutest letters!

This is the before and after the 1st Haircut for Huxley!

In the meantime, we are pumping all kinds of good vitamins into our bodies.

We found that the chewable vitamin C is really easy to take.

Especially, when we are taking a lot of them.

We are pretty good about washing our hands, but we've

added hand sanitizer to our routine, followed by hand lotion.

Being disappointed about not visiting our family,

Tom and I jumped into our RV and headed out for a night.

Nobody was around us!

The weather was clear and somewhat warm.

Warm enough to take Banjo for some long walks.

It was his first time traveling.

Once Tom built the fire, we warmed up nicely.

One More Time!

Mark and Kimmy bought an RV that sleeps 10!

So that's what we did.

Tom and I packed our 2 person RV.

It's the end of the camping season, so there were plenty of spots available.

We got two that were side by side with a

 big patch of grass in between each RV.

The bikes were unpacked and the kids were off!

Papa was a kid again and joined in the fun.

Tom even joined in some wrestling matches

with Silas and Isaac.

Their new RV is so big,

 that the girls have their own bunk beds.

Levi was in charge of the wood chopping.

Silas "supervising" his older brother.

We were surprised when a fellow camper, 

pulled up in 

the very same RV as ours.

Here we are enjoying the camp fire and Levi's hard work.

In between the crackling of the fire, we heard coyotes howling!

Freaky!!

Must be Fall because the mornings were COLD!

Nothing like a hot cup of coffee, to warm you up.

Lulu found a quiet place to write.

The back door of our RV opens up!

Another quiet spot... in the shade.

Ila May did a lot of drawing in her sketch book.

She is getting really good!

Lulu and I went on a bike ride and 

found a perfect spot for a selfie.

In the mornings we had visitors. 

Or what I called, our Alarm Clocks !

Yes... you can get 7 people in our

2 person van!

Celebrating 40 Years Of Marriage! 

 (March 10th 1979)

Tom and I wanted to do something special
 to acknowledge this milestone.

So we hit the road.

Five states in 10 days!

We had a destination but as we drove, our plans changed,
That's the fun of just getting in the car and just going.

We started out in Idaho and drove the first night 

to Salt Lake City.

Mostly snow! 

Leaving Utah and crossed over a small corner of
Arizona....

which was beautiful!

Our next stop was Las Vegas, Nevada

I was so thrilled to see the Eiffel Tower, even

though it wasn't the one in Paris.

The streets were packed with cars, buses, trucks and people.

We did go to a show...

Tony and Tina's Wedding

They call it an "environmental/ immersed theater".

Where the audience is part of the show .

And being our anniversary, why not go to a wedding?

We stayed two days in Las Vegas. If we go again,
we'd stay only one day.

 So off to California.

We crossed through the Mojave Dessert.

The smell of the dessert was wonderful!

I had my head out the window most of the time, trying to taking in the fragrance.

It was a sweet, perfumy smell. 

Something like a rose.

Ahhhh.....

Once we got over the mountains to the 

coastal side of California, it was acres and acres of

farms and orchards.

Thousands and thousands of 

Almond trees in bloom with pink and white flowers.

It was so beautiful.

We stopped at, The Bravo Farms

Where we bought several kinds of almonds.

Great traveling snacks.

Mt. Shasta

Lots of rain and snow.

I had heard of the little town of Drain, Oregon.
It has several old and elaborate and historical homes

So we made a quick stop.

The little city of Drain is close to Eugene and
that's where we spent the night.
From there we headed West to the coast.

All long the coast are small towns that
offer amazing seafood.

I'm always looking for the
 BEST CLAM CHOWDER.

Tillamook Oregon is a very important stop.

At the Tillamook Creamery,

you can see how cheese is made.

Taste different types of cheeses.

(I buy only Tillamook cheese)

Buy any kind of cheese

and

there is an ice cream store!

Yummy!

Our last planned destination was 

Cannon Beach.

Lots of memories for our family are at this beach.

We wanted to spend our anniversary day, there.

After driving for several days, 

it was good to walk the beach.

We have a favorite restaurant in the middle of town, that we go to
to get the best Fish'n Chips.

We had just finished eating our fish and chips,
when I looked up at these darling kids!
THEN I LOOKED AGAIN!

SURPRISE!!
It was OUR grandchildren!

The family had driven 8 hours to spend the weekend with us,
celebrating!
I was so surprised.
I guess I screamed when
I realized they were right in front of us!
I also cried!

For the next several days we played on the beach.

Walking a mile down to Haystack Rock and back.

The weather was cool but sunny!

March 10, 2019

We planned a renewal of vows on the beach.

Tom bought us matching sweatshirts.

 Here is Silas handing my new ring to Tom.

Isaac came over and stood next to us.

That evening was our last time at the beach.
We bundled up and went for a walk.

The sunset was so perfect.

This was the best anniversary!

It was special for many reasons.

But for one young girl, it was really special.

Lulu will be having her spinal surgery, soon.

Lulu had so much fun running into the waves and
playing in the sand.

Jumping for joy!

Back home after a whirl-wind road trip,
that had the best ending!
