So Long For Now...

Tom and I are heading back to Seattle to
help with the birth of our 6th grandchild.
SHE is due September 9th!
We are going over early just in case.
I can't miss this birth!

We will be staying in our
 "new to us" trailer.
We have already had our trial run.
Things are in place and ready for us.

Tom is still packing his suitcase.

Me? Well, I've packed, and repacked.
I'm READY!
Being gone for a month,
a girl needs a lot of things.
Cause you just never know!

I also, packed my Doula bag with items that will come in handy for the labor.
Things like;
 Massage tool
Honey sticks
Heating pad
Note pad & pen
Snacks
Chap-stick
Phone numbers of family and friends
(the list goes on and on)

I've gone over my classroom notes,
 re-read my text book.
But after helping with five births,
one thing I know for sure,
each one is different!

I won't be around for the month of September.
I will miss all of you.
I will miss reading your advice, recipes, crafts, thoughts
and what you have been up to.
If you remember, please say a prayer for me and our growing family.
Thank you.

Foodies and Cuties

Tom and I are joining our daughter
 and her family,
by going Gluten Free.
Not an easy endeavor!

On top of that,
Tom and I are challenging ourselves to
follow the Whole30 Diet.
(thanks Anita)
We are at the half-way mark.

We haven't eaten:
Dairy
Sugar
Alcohol
Grains
Legumes
or anything processed!
 ( It's basically the Paleo Diet )

Here are some of the new recipes that we
have learned to like and want more of.

Muffins:
Recipe:
2 cups Almond Flour
4 large eggs
1 C. mashed bananas
1 C. pumpkin, canned (1/2 can)
1 C. olive oil
1 t. salt
2 t. baking powder
1 C. blueberries
1 t. cinnamon, ground
1/2 t. cloves, ground
1/4 t. nutmeg

Heat oven to 400 degrees.  Lightly beat eggs.  Add oil, pumpkin, and mashed bananas together.
In a separate bowl, combine almond flour, salt, baking powder and spices. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Add blueberries. Fill muffin tin to the top and bake for about 30 minutes. Muffins will be tender. Cool on wire rack and store covered in the refrigerator.

 Kayle Chips
Recipe:
Click here for these delicious chips.
Our 6 year old grandson LOVES these!
I leave them out on the table and they are gone!

 Cauliflower Rice:
Recipe:
One head of cauliflower, cut into small flowers
Put into a food processor
Chop until the consistence of rice.
Ta Da!
Now use  just like you would rice!

And look what is starting to ripen!

I'm freezing a lot of them!

But it's not always about food.
We went to a semi-pro
Baseball game in Boise,
one hot, summer, evening.
"Take me out to the ballgame".
First time for some of us to experience a baseball game.
We had so much fun.

Smoke and Wildfires!

We are experiencing something new.
Wild Fires!!

 Driving home the I noticed
 a strange cloud.
When I got home, I turned on the local  News.
 We were told that
a huge forest fire had broken out.
It was about
thirty miles from where we live.

We decided to go and see for
ourselves what it looked like.
This is the road going into the town
nearest the fire.
The smoke had covered the sky!

Up in the mountains, the sky
had an orange tint to it and the sun
was bright gold.

To close for comfort.
We headed back home.

This picture was taken just outside our front door,
looking West.

(yes, that's a dead tree in our front yard)

Update:
Last night I took Lucy outside for her "break" and the sky was
lit up all red from the fires!
It is now 220,000 acres huge and growing every minute.
It's only 11% contained.
We are staying indoors because of all the smoke.

Our trip back to Seattle was
 for several reasons
but mostly to see Trey.

I also wanted to check in with Stephanie,
who is giving birth to our
6th grandchild next month.

Other reasons:
* To see my friends and
spend time with them.
* To go to a concert.
* To get some relief from the heat in Idaho.
* To get things ready for our month long visit in September.
(more on that later)

I was blessed to see Trey almost every day we
were there.
Tom and I even watched Trey, all day on Tuesday!

We went for walks, read books,
sang songs, played cars, had lunch,
and took silly selfies!

We arrived at Trey's house really early.
So early, I was half asleep when I got dressed.
Todd, our son, looked down at my feet and just laughed.
I had put on two different shoes!

When I asked Trey to put on his
shoes, he decided to do the same thing!

I love this little boy!

Now for the explanation why we will be visiting for the month of September.

We live about 8 to 9 hours away from Seattle.
Stephanie has asked me to be her Doula and her due date in September 9th.
I want to be there to help her, and help our son.
So, we bought a trailer as home-base when we come back and visit.

This is where we stayed for the week!

The trailer is parked on
our property in Redmond.
and this was our trial run.

We have never "camped" in a trailer before.
So many things to learn!

It has a cute kitchen ( sorry, no pictures )
Bathroom, with a great shower!
Big bedroom and it has a Bump-out
that holds the dining table.

This is a close up view out our dining room window.
How cute is that!

Trey came over to visit one day.
Here he is saying good-by
to a neighbor friend,
 who stopped by.

We still have a lot to learn about "camping"
Any suggestions?

To Seattle and Back

Tom and I just got back
from visiting family and friends in Seattle.

My Long To Do List:
Loads of laundry
(Lucy loves to relax in the
middle of the pile.)
Weeding and watering.
Picking and freezing.
Washing the dog.
Mail and grocery shopping.

I'll be back soon to catch up
with you and
to do a Show and Tell.

Is a nap on my list?
