El Nino Weather

Here in the Pacific Northwest we are experiencing El Nino weather.

What is an El Nino?

"An El NiƱo is a temporary change in the climate of the Pacific ocean, in the region around the equator. You can see its effects in both the ocean and atmosphere, generally in Northern Hemisphere winter. Typically, the ocean surface warms up by a few degrees celsius. At the same time, the place where hefty thunderstorms occur on the equator moves eastward. Although those might seem like small differences, it nevertheless can have big effects on the world's climate."

Today, Tom and I just had to get out and enjoy the weather.
We went to a local winery and I wasn't the only one with a camera!

Opening Day....

Our local Fruit Market opened today!
Family owned and operated, locally grown crops and lots of plants for your garden.

What a thrill!

These buckets are near the checkout stands.
So easy to grab a bunch and put in your cart.

This is the view looking back inside. The outside has all the garden plants.
Oh, the beauty of it all!

Each sign is beautifully handmade.
I could go around reading just the signs.

Don't you just love this sign? Kind-a-says it all!
Oh yes, I'll be back...

How to buy a cantaloupe. The first thing you want to do when choosing a ripe cantaloupe is smell it. Ripe cantaloupes give off a sweet, cantaloupe smell that you can't mistake. A ripe cantaloupe with be golden/orange in color underneath and within the outer rind. An unripe cantaloupe will be green underneath. Also make sure the cantaloupe is not too soft, a classic sign of being overripe. The good thing about cantaloupe is that is will continue to ripen. So, if you pick an under-ripe cantaloupe at the market, let it sit on your counter for a few days and it should be ready to eat.

Bathroom Reveal - The Louvre

Before

After

Before

After

Well, we have completed most of the work - whew!
I need to live with "it" before I add a few things, like a valance or no valance.
Baseboards need to go back on. Then some more touch up paint.
The reason I call this room the The Louvre is because of all the art work. My inspiration came from the Mona Lisa. I really liked the colors.
Noni guessed the name!

"Mona Lisa" - Leonardo de Vinci

"Gaining Momentum" - Jennifer Rasmusson

This little easel will be changed out with different art work.

You probably are wondering about the tiara.
Our daughter wore this when she participated in a
Seattle summer celebration, as a Princess.
I wear it when I clean the bathroom! There is something about a tiara, and cleaning a toilet.
