What's Your Title?

Lately, I've been reading some really witty
and thoughtful, Posts Titles.
Each of these bloggers has her own
 special talent and writing style.
I'm amazed at all the creativity, day in and day out.
I'm entertained and amused.
I've absorbed and learned so much from each of them.
I visit these blogs weekly and
even sometimes daily.

So here are a few of my favorite

Spring Vacation or Spring Break?

This week, I'm on Spring Break!
I'm taking a break from my day job,
as a high school Attendance Secretary.
No vacation.... just a break.
Tom, my husband, has also taken a week long break from his job.
Together, we are tackling "projects" around the house.
 He works, I supervise.
I just love being home and piddling around the house.

I had promised Lulu (grand daughter) that I would bake her a Dump Cake.

Last night, Lulu and Levi got their first bite of it.
And from the looks of it, it was a hit.

This is the recipe:

• 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple with juice, undrained
• 1 can (21 ounces) Cherry Pie Filling
• 1 pkg Yellow Cake Mix
• 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
• 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease a 13x9-inch pan.
2. Dump pineapple with juice into pan. Spread evenly. Dump in pie filling. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over cherry layer. Sprinkle pecans over cake mix. Dot with butter.
3. Bake 50 minutes or until top is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.

There is some controversy about this recipe.
Should you mix the cake, according to the directions on the box or
just add the cake mix dry (sprinkle?).
I mixed the cake mix according to the box directions.
So, I didn't add the 1/2 stick of butter.

Plus, a cake without frosting just isn't cake.
At least not in our house.
I added whip cream to the cake...ummmmm good!

I'm enjoying my break!

Walking (and chuckling)

Like many of you, I really enjoy a walking around my neighborhood.
But lately I've seeing some very interesting things.
Yes, this is a brass frog sitting on the fence.
(This little frog has been here all winter.)
I chuckle when ever I walk by it.

A few doors down, there is this bunny sitting in the front yard.
I chuckle when I walk by it.

Turn the corner...this is what I see.
I chuckle when I walk by it!

Look closely...
I chuckle when I walk by it.

My biggest chuckle I saved for last...

I usually break out in a really loud snicker.

By now, I'm trying to hold in my laughter.
So turn the corner and head  for home.

I enjoy walking around my neighborhood.
Enjoying lots of chuckles, that's for sure.

"1 pound of fat is equivalent to 3,500 Calories. So to lose 1lb in weight you need to expend 3500 Calories more than you've consumed.

The calories expended (and therefore the weight lost) when walking depends on a number of factors - crucially your level of fitness, your weight and the distance walked.

A good rule of thumb is that a reasonably active person weighing 168 lbs (12 stones) walking at approximately 2 mph will consume just under 100 Calories per mile walked."
