Simple Pleasure

When I walk out of this building, I noticed this Marigold surrounded by cement.
I was surprised and pleased that it grew in this awkward place.
This lone flower is my Simple Pleasure this week.
Dayle, over at A Collection of This and That, is hosting Simple Pleasures.
Please join us every Thursday.

  1. I *love* this! What a little trooper! I would have taken a picture too. The perfect simple pleasure!

  2. What a Perfect Statement! I'm lovin' this! So happy you caught it on film and were able to share it with us. :))

    Hugs of Southern Sunshine,

  3. P.E.R.F.E.C.T simple pleasure. Perfect.

  4. I love this!!! This might be one of my favorite simple pleasures yet because it speaks volumes.

God can put a flower any place that He has a mind to. I love it.

I'm so glad that you captured that for the Simple Pleasures party!

  5. What an inspiring simple pleasure, Christine. I have a similar photo from several years ago, a reminder to bloom where you're planted.

Always a joy to have you at the party!

  6. awww. I love the most awkward isolated little flower pushing it's beauty through....

  7. Wow!! What a beautiful, yellow-petaled soldier. :) Thank you for your prayers for my soldier/friend. He and Kenny get to "Skype" to keep in touch since right now he is in Indiana training before he heads to Afganistan (2 months stateside, 10 overseas if it doesn't get extended). Danielle is doing well. She and her brother renovated the basement of their Mom's house to make her own little apartment. She will live there for the year. I haven't been there but in pictures it looks really cute. And I know it really helps her to be home (but have her own space, too).
Christine, I must tell you that not only do I love reading your blog, but I so appreciate the friendship we have as blogging buddies and your prayers for my friend!!!
    BLESSINGS!! :) :) :)

  8. I only wish the ones in my garden looked like that one!

  9. I love it, too! Many would not have even noticed it. Way to go.

  10. Aren't simple pleasures just wonderful? I loved all of the grandma quotes and pictures of Levi. Our little boy should be arriving in the next couple of weeks, and we are ready! I will be getting to enjoy all of the wonderful grandma memories for the first time, and hope Tom is still recuperating very nicely. He is in my prayers. Jackie

  11. You know ?

I've been thinking about this lately - the whole "bloom where your planted" thing- even if it's tough and next near to impossible. Even if it feels like "I'm the only one" in this "mess" (I'm not in a mess, mess - but a beautiful mess of mothering). You know.. what I'm saying?

This is a great photo thought. :)

  12. Great pic! Bloom where you are planted...wonderful simple pleasure. Enjoy your weekend, Christine.

  13. I love the yellow in all the gray... It's just like the love and care you give to others so freely! You are the yellow in the world of gray!
Oh we named the puppy Latte!
    Dee Dee

  14. Would this be considered one of your "volunteers"?

  15. That marigold says it perfectly -- glimpses of heaven in unexpected places!

  16. Christine,

Tom is on the mend, stray marigolds are to be found, and grandchildren are, well, just themselves. All is good and happy.

Thanks so much for the birthday wish and all your words of encouragement as Harleigh went off to school. It all meant the world.

  17. Hi Christine, I am always amazed when I see a lone flower like that one.
    Great simple pleasure.

    Thanks for sharing.
