Downsizing and saying Good-by

picture of our entry, during summer

I have mentioning for awhile now, that I have been downsizing, a lot.
It started last summer when I knew I wanted to move.
There I said it. Move!
Tom and I talked about it. Looked into it.
Sell our home? No!
Rent our home? No!
Move to a condo? No!
Then canceled the idea.

I knew that I needed keep downsizing.
I'd pack my car and drive to Goodwill and Value Village.
I gave away so many "things".
All long, praying for direction and help.
I kept hearing God say, Purge.

Today, I am reviling ours plans.
(It's a  l-o-n-g  story so I'm keeping it short)
We are moving to the little cottage that we own,
 in the city of Redmond.
Moving date is January 27th.
Some of you might remember this cute cottage
as the home where our grandson was born.

Our home of 29 years,
will still be full of happy noises, love and family.
Mark, Kimmy, Lulu, Levi and Ila May will be moving into our home!
(Like I said, it's a long story, keeping it short.)

Now a little history.
Tom and I moved into the family home in 1983.
Todd was just two years old.
Kimmy was 7 months old.
Todd and Kimmy a few months after we moved in.

So many memories...
When we replaced our carpet, we wrote on the plywood
some messages before the new carpet was installed.
Todd digging a trench when the water main broke.
Prom night for Kimmy.

Our family has just kept growing.

This is the layout of our "new" cottage.
Can you say DOWNSIZING ?

I will be gone from blogging until
we have finished moving in.
Still packing boxes and still purging!

For the past few days, the high school where I work,
has been closed because of snow.

God is good!

  1. Wow!~ You're purging everything lately...possessions, body weight, homes, lol.....

Good for you and how exciting!

Your snow made national news! Stay safe! Glad you have snow days to get a lot done!

  2. Best wishes on your move Christine!! Moving is a lot of work, but it does feel good to go through everything, doesn't it?

  3. Wow, what a surprise! Joe and I keep talking about moving but we want to upsize. ;) God bless you with your move. I'll look forward to seeing your new little home.

  4. Wow! lotsa change....

I'll be thinking of you. Oh, and thanks for your sweet comment yesterday. I'd love for you to be a guest in our home.:)

  5. Hi Christine! It's been a long time and now you are moving. That is awesome that your own family will be moving into your house. Well it's nice that you are staying in the state.

Isn't this snow beautiful? I hope it doesn't put a damper on your move. It is good though, that you don't have to go to work.

Did I tll you I lost my job with the cut backs down here? I got something back at the same school, thank God. I love the school I'm at. I only work 2.5 hours in a 6.5 hour stretch, but I get to sub in the pre school 4 days a week for 2.75 hrs. with a liitle girl in a wheelchair. It has turned out to be a wonderful year after all.

Well, God bless you as you move. Enjoy the cottage & your family.
    Take care,

  6. How wonderful that you are able to accomplish so much for your family. We've talked about moving, but not very seriously! With our kids far away we need space for their visits. Can't wait to see your new digs when you've moved in. Hope all goes smoothly...

  7. That sounds wonderful!!!!!!!! Truly wonderful and I keep thinking, wow, what a faithful God we serve.

Blessings as you move and get settled again...what wonderful memories and now more to be made.

  8. That post made me cry. WOW, so many memories. We are so excited to be moving in to your home. So much more space!! Praise God.

  9. Oh My Gosh!
Downsizing is truely your theme for the past few months.

I am a bit jealous but thrilled for you.

Re: floor plans - when your porch is as big as your livingroom it is a good thing.

  10. Wow!! Wow again!! I firmly believe that if we listen and open our hearts, God leads us to where we are supposed to be and what we are supposed to do. His leading. His timing.

You are blessed a million times over about all the changes that are upcoming. In the midst of moving chaos and a little bit of stress, remember we are all here waiting for photos and updates.

    Big hugs, Marla

  11. Christine and Tom,
May God's hand continue to guide and direct your in this new adventure! Listen and obey He will guide you all the way!
I am so excited that a path has opened up for you and for Kimmy.
You will be glad that you have done all your purging, esp when you get to the other side and need to find a spot for what you still have! I'm so excited for you all
and am still lifting all up in prayer.... dee dee

  12. Christine
How exciting!! One never knows what God has ahead for us.
It will be fun for you setting up house in your cozy cottage.
It looks like you have more than the 1100 sq ft I live in, so you can do it!
I can't wait to see some photos when you are settled.

  13. You will love your new place. New beginnings are always good. Best of luck on your move.

  14. What exciting news Christine! it is wonderful that your daughter, her husband and family will be living in your "old" or previous home. Wishing you God's Blessings all along the way! :)

  15. This is wonderful to me! I think God is so wonderful to have given you this perfect solution after He put the urge to move in your heart. You aren't saying good-bye to the house, you're just resting it in different hands.

Really, I love this and can't wait to see what you're going to do with the cottage.

  16. I'm so excited for you, Christine. Sending wonderful wishes for a smooth and streamlined move!!! Look forward to hearing more! God IS GOOD indeed! blessings ~ tanna

  17. What an amazing journey God is taking you on. I am happy for you all. God does lead in so many interesting ways. Just the word "cottage" makes me know I will like where you are moving. I will remember you in our prayers.

    You will be missed!

  18. God bless you through this new chapter in your life!
