Father's Day for me

This is my Dad.
The "Big" Norwegian

I don't talk about my  family.
(Since my Dad died, there hasn't been much connection.)
He was the glue that held us together.
He was well loved by everyone and I mean everyone.
Especially me!
He taught me how to love, how to be kind,
how to show others respect and consideration.
He gave great advice and
I have passed it down to my children.
He was funny.
He was quiet.
He was a war hero, Purple Heart!
He was a great host.
He was generous.
He loved people.
Dad passed away shortly after this picture was taken.
Yes, he is smiling. That was his smile!

As we celebrate Father's Day, I will be
thinking about MY dad and all that he taught me.

The way I can honor and say thank you Dad,
is to be a better me.

  1. Your Dad sounds very special Christine.
It's the same for me since both my folks are gone now, I don't see my family much anymore.

  4. Awww, that made me cry. I sure miss Papa! I remember how humble he was. That first picture I took of him and he said "you don't want a picture of me" and I told him "yes I do!!" so he sat on the bench for me. He was walking me to my car......such a gentlemen and always took such good care of us all.

  5. Chris....beautiful. Your dad was one of a kind and yes he did like all people. Very low key and loved you. I will always see your dad with his coffee cup in hand, always about half full and if the time was right, after his coffee, a little wine, in the same cup. Great father in law. tomg

You had a wonderful Godly example and I am sure he was brave and strong just what a little girl needs. He gave you his heart and he gave our country freedom! Thank you dear friend!!!

  8. Sweet tribute to your father. I feel the same about mine. Like the saying goes any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a daddy.
