Tom and I live in a small town.
We do small town activities.
Spring is country drives.
Summer is the open air market.
Fall we do a Harvest Festival
Winter...
It's the Christmas Tree Lighting!
The streets are decorated.
Christmas music is playing.
People, young and old are walking around,
all bundled up.
Some with hot cider, or hot chocolate in their hands.
With anticipation,
all are waiting for the count down of the
Tree Lighting!
The tree is right in the middle of town.
You can see it from just about everywhere.
The back drop is the Historical Railroad Station
all decorated with lights and greenery.
They even had a Horse Drawn
Carriage ride.
The sunset was beautiful!
The lights were magnificent.
And then the tree...
Everyone gathered around.
The Master of Ceremonies started out with a prayer.
(Only in a small town)
The family that donated the tree
spoke on behalf of their mother,
for whom the tree was dedicated to.
Cheers and applause when the
lights came on.
It is beautiful!
We headed home for dinner.
A bowl of hot, homemade Pea Soup.
Yes, it's Christmas time!
Now to wrap the all packages...

"But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption of sonship."
Galatians 4: 4-5
Ooooo ... what a fun town you live in. That sunset photos is lovely. The soup looks so inviting and warming.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's Christmas time! Have fun wrapping your presents. I love wrapping presents.
Your town sounds perfect. Just the kind of place you want your kids to grow up in. We have a tree lighting ceremony at the recreation center but I've never made it there. Maybe I should try harder next year. Yours was great! And that soup looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteI love small towns, Christine, and you are so right only in these small towns is prayer allowed without controversy.
ReplyDeleteYour town sounds so ideal to me, we have several near us that we enjoy visiting, especially with all their antique stores, and quaint restaurants.
I love homemade soup, and am always looking for new recipes.
Thank you for visiting me, I apologize for not visiting sooner, I have been so busy decorating for Christmas, and with farm duties, our ewes are beginning to lamb, we always look forward to our Christmas babies, a reminder of the true lamb of God whose birthday we celebrate.
Have a blessed day,
Hugs from me to you.
Sue
Yes. Yes. Yes. Thankful for reminders that our whole world is not lost in craziness. ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteThe tree is beautiful and I imagine the small town atmosphere at Christmas is amazing. We have a tree somewhere downtown and there is a tree-lighting ceremony but we have never been. While not huge by any stretch, we definitely not a small town, and so parking is always an issue.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your small town Christmas a little more for me.
