Five Little "Monkeys" Sitting Up In Bed...
Tom and I had the pleasure of taking care of these
little guys for three days and two nights.
You can't see in the picture but, they are eating a
York Peppermint candy.
It's a tradition.
When they all have woken up,
they jump into our bed
and eat their candy.
Levi is the guy who knows where the candy is hidden.
He brings them back.
Then they play with our electric bed.
The head and feet go up, plus it vibrates!
So when the head is up and the feet
are up at the same time,
they get squished and call it "Barito".
(I don't know where that name came from)
This was Isaac's first time for the
morning candy/Barito ritual.
Kimmy and Mark went up to McCall
to enjoy some time away and relax.
It was Kimmy's other, Christmas present to Mark.
Her first one being, that he was going
to be a dad again with #6 due in August.
Way to go...you two!
We played, went for walks in the snow,
did some chores,
read books and watched a movie or two.
Silas took his chore very seriously,
getting the mail.
Here he is sitting on the top of the couch, waiting for the mail truck to come.
Everyone missed each other!
Mom and dad returned to happy
squeals and lots of hugs.
Tom and I were left with silence.
I never liked it when other grandparents would say,
'It's great to have them for a while and then they can go home."
Not my sentiments!
I miss them.
But we are BLESSED because
they live just down the street!
Oh, the joys of being a grandparent!

Oh I love a grandparent that gives candy in the bed! LOL! Sounds like me. #6? How exciting! Love the pictures. Oh yes, we are blessed too Christine. Our children live close by and it's such a blessing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

ReplyDeleteLooks like a happy time was had by all. I see why you like the York Peppermint patties. Good memories.
ReplyDeleteJoys indeed, Christine, you are truly blessed that they live so close, ours lived so far away, but we had them in the summer time and that was wonderful. They are all grown now, but we have so many wonderful memories, when they call they always say how wonderful their time was here on the farm, and now they are wanting to bring girlfriend and boyfriend here to meet us, which we love. One of our grandson who is in college called the other night hinting that his Christmas cookies were gone, I will be baking this weekend. ~wink~
ReplyDeleteI am so glad Kimmy and her dh had some R&R, it always refreshes us to get away.
Thank you for your visit and for your sweet comment.
Blessings,
Sue
What special times at your home! So exciting to have the 5 visit for a couple of days, such fun and precious memories! And I love the York peppermint tradition! So fun :) Lovely as grandparents to have the fun joys of spoiling them, but I agree with you, that the house would be way too quiet when they leave! So thankful though that they are down the street! Congrats on another grandbaby on the way! So awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. Enjoyed the peek into your times with your grands! To let them eat York peppermint in your bed is pretty special. Maybe they being wrapped in your bed makes them think of Mexican burritos?
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Happy New Year, Christine.
Hmmm, one more thing we have in common - #6 is due in August. {Ben, Lindsay, and Silas in Philly}
