Start to Finish

We have had this Apple tree in our front yard for years.
This year I pruned the Apple tree properly (the right way) and
we got apples for the first time!
This picture was taken back in September.
I love the American flag is in the background,
but as you can see we got a lot of apples.
I wasn't going to pick the apples but
Todd, our son, persisted that I pick them.
They aren't very good for eating.

So I made apple sauce in my crock pot.
Cooking applesauce made the whole house smell so good!

  1. I love the smell of apples cooking. I like the pictures you shared of the tree and your yard...and you're right, the flag looks lovely in the background up against that blue sky!

    Enjoy your cooking efforts... yum!

  2. There is nothing more inviting, than walking into a warm home that smells like apples cooking, on a cold Fall day. What a great idea!

  3. I forgot to tell you that your new banner picture is perfect! What a welcome it presents. I also really like the picture of the coffee cup and the saying that you have with it:) Beautiful blog!

  4. What a satisfying feeling, Christine! This is the reward for your labor! I can almost smell those apples cooking! With a hint of cinnamon??? Delicious!

  5. I have tons of apples too, but not from my own tree! I have never tried to make applesauce. You are very ambitious.

By the way, I love the new look of your blog page. If that is what you are having for Thanksgiving, I'm buying my plane ticket to Washington now! ;)

  6. How wonderful! I have heard if you prune fruit trees they give off more fruit. Last fall someone gave me a few bags of apples..not suitable for eating, but they did make some wonderful applesauce!

  7. I bet the smell filled the whole room and house... yummy!

  8. new to your blog -- never seen that color of an apple..if they are not good for eating then maybe good for cooking up a few to smell up the house -- hugs..
